FLAT WORK TO LOUNGE AROUND ON

frontlaw_pads_a.jpgfrontlaw_pads_b.jpgFlatwork around the pool area went in today which means we are closer and closer to sunning and funning. Pool guys should be in towards the end of the week to finish installing equipment, plastering and filling the lap pool. Fencing and irrigation guys will soon follow.

A DIFFERENT SHADE OF GREY

hallway_primer.jpgThe hallway, bedrooms and closet cabinets got their first coat of primer today and the downstairs kitchen cabinets received their first coat of finish paint as well. The two guest bedrooms upstairs have a wall of floor-to-ceiling cabinets that create a beautiful reveal detail in the hallway while functioning as a closet system from within the bedroom. This allowed us to maximize the square footage upstairs  as well as create some nice uninterupted walls in the two guest bedrooms. The same floor-to-ceiling cabinet systems also create and define the entertainment system, closet and bathroom in the master.

THE DRIVE TO THE FINISH

driveway_pour_a.jpgdriveway_pour_b.jpgdriveway_pour_c.jpgDriveway and back entry way steps got poured yesterday so we are inching our way closer to completion on the back side of the home. A bit of finish out with the carport and back storage area should complete the backyard. Then it’s on to irrigation and landscaping.

PAINT ME SOMETHING PRETTY

ceiling_whitewash.jpgcabinets_prepaint.jpgcabinet_ebonystain.jpgPainters have started to make things pretty. The pine wood ceiling and walls got a coat of white-wash stain. This will help the wood from yellowing over time and gives the wood a slightly ash-like finish blending nicely with the paint-grade grey cabinets. The massive rift-cut white oak cabinet also received its first splash of ebonized black stain. Special thanks to the guys at Lozoya Painting.

COPING WITH CONTRACTORS

pool_coping.jpgPool coping went in this past week. Riverbend Sandler Pools have been fantastic. On time and on budget with almost every piece of the puzzle. We can’t wait to get it plastered and filled with water.

DEMOLITION DERBY

demolition.jpgkessler_woods_phaseiii.jpgDemolition has started on the old apartment complex that sits adjacent to Kessler Woods. These guys made quick work of taking down the rather large array of old units. The area will become Kessler Woods Phase III with garden homes, town homes, lofts and commercial/office spaces.

TIME TO GET WET

wettub.jpgThe new WET tub is in place and the tile guys just finished grouting the master bath. More pictures to come after we get the cabinets set. In the mean time, check out WET. And on a related note, the pools guy set tile this week and should be back out next week to get everything finished up. We’re inching closer and closer to completion.

THE PROGRESS OF DECOMPOSITION

coretensteel_update.jpgDay 65 and it’s starting to take shades. The corten steel continues to patina along the front of the home and the back side. It’s slowly starting to work its way inward from the edges of the sheets. It has kind of a humorous flame-stitch pattern to it right now, but a few more rainy weeks and it should all start to fill in.

LET’S GO GREEN

kessler_nolandscape1.jpgkessler_landscape_b.jpgkessler_landscape_a.jpgLandscaping in the front of the house has started with a beautiful full row of liberty holly trees that will be groomed into a perfect rectangular shape over time. The holly will provide a year-round screen of deep deep green color and privacy for the front of the home. Outside of those are four gorgeous cedar elm trees for additional privacy during the spring, summer and fall. They’ll bloom with vibrant green buds in the spring and turn to a fiery yellow in the fall just before losing their leaves.
