THE PROGRESS OF DECOMPOSITION

coretensteel_update.jpgDay 65 and it’s starting to take shades. The corten steel continues to patina along the front of the home and the back side. It’s slowly starting to work its way inward from the edges of the sheets. It has kind of a humorous flame-stitch pattern to it right now, but a few more rainy weeks and it should all start to fill in.

CORTEN STEEL UPDATE

rusting_metal.jpgIt’s been about 45 days since the installation of the corten steel. The southwest side of the home, the first to go up, is starting to develop a nice patina. Rainy days become a welcome state when trying to weather the exterior of the house.

CONTINUING TO RUST

exterior_sheetmetal.jpgA little less than one month after installation, the corten steel continues to patina and is starting to turn. It develops a dark charcoal shade for a few days before turning into the orange and red shades. Sometime around April or May, and after a few good rains, it should reach its natural patina.

CORTEN STEEL INSTALLATION

Bear with us for about 5 months as the exterior of the home will transform from a titanium looking metal into a gorgeous box of rusting earth colored reds and oranges. Corten steel will continue to transform over time.
